The other week I received a lovely surprise in the post– a Bear Hug! You will have seen Bear Hugs banner in the sidebar as a sponsor for a little while now and you might have even read my interview with Faye— the face behind Bear Hugs. If you haven’t I suggest you go and read it as it’s a great interview and Faye is really inspiring.

In case you don’t know what Bear Hugs is, it is a new start up company founded by Faye Savory– the blogger behind Bed, Bear Hugs & Beyond (formerly Freckles & All)– that offers a range of gift boxes that are specially designed to comfort and uplift. The concept is simple: send someone you love a Bear Hug to brighten their day and make them smile. They are of course great boxes to send to a loved one who is having a tough time with illness but equally they are a nice, thoughtful gift for any occasion. Essentially they are a great way to let someone know you care about them and receiving a box genuinely made my day.

The box was really nicely packaged and I love the concept of the branding. I received a lovely hand written note from Faye, which actually made me tear up a little as it was so lovely. So thank you for making my day Faye! Everything I received in the box was perfect for me and it was clear that Faye had put a lot of thought into it.

I received two nakd bars, sweet and salty popcorn with a cool box to put it in, two fruit ices, cosy socks, a colouring book, coloured pencils and a pencil case. My favourite snacks are nakd bars and popcorn so it is safe to say that they have already been enjoyed! I’m looking forward to eating the ices on a hot day in the garden… though I might have to just eat them because we are half way into August and summer hasn’t really appeared here in Scotland!! It really meant a lot that Faye had put the thought into sourcing snacks for me that fit in with my dietary restrictions.

I love the colouring book as it embraces my creative side and it will allow me to express that in a positive and relaxing way. I haven’t been able to do as much creatively as I would like to as I have been prioritising other things and so this will really help with that as it’s something I can do even when I am feeling tired. Colouring in is such a relaxing activity and it’s even meant to be good for your health, which is always a plus! The socks are so soft and comfortable and will get a lot of use from me– I literally live in fleece socks with my pyjamas most of the time!

I was so happy to receive this box and a Bear Hug makes a wonderful, thoughtful and unique gift. Thank you so much again to Faye and if you think there is someone you know who would appreciate a Bear Hug (I think everyone would!!) then be sure to check out Bear Hugs on Etsy. There are various boxes to choose from to suit different individuals. You can also find Bear Hugs on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Hello, I'm Donna. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2013 and started this blog shortly after. After my health declined significantly the following year, I decided to become my own advocate and searched for answers. It took two years but, in 2016, I finally discovered I had Lyme Disease. On February Stars, I share my personal journey back to better health; discussing what has helped me and the mistakes I've made along the way. I also cover topics on self-improvement, managing symptoms and living life to the fullest with chronic illness.

  1. Donna! When I saw the title of this post on Twitter I jumped right over to it. My dad (who passed away in 2010) was famous his bear hugs. Thank you for the memory of him today. Also, this sounds like a great company! The gift is awesome. I may just have to send a few Bear Hugs!

    • Aww that’s so nice, I’m glad this post made you think of your Dad 🙂 It’s a wonderful idea and the concept behind it is brilliant.
