Money can often be at the forefront of your mind when you suffer from chronic illness, particularly if you are restricted in your abilities to work or if you cannot work at all. You become the seeker of bargains and I am no exception. I was therefore really intrigued to discover the website JustFor5Pounds.com . As the name suggests, everything on the website costs £5– from clothing and footwear to accessories.
I was very kindly sent two items from JustFor5Pounds.com to review. I received a tan oversized handbag* and a chiffon summer blouse*. Would these items be an absolute bargain or too good to be true?
The tan oversized handbag is a lovely, rich colour and has a zip fastening with two straps that come over the top of the bag and are secured with a snap fastening. There are two pockets at either side of the bag and internally there is a zip pocket and a mobile phone pocket. The bag can be worn over the shoulder or across the body by attaching a body strap. I like the design of the bag but it is one of those ones where you definitely get what you pay for. It is made of a thin, synthetic material, which looks fine but unfortunately this means the bag does not hold its shape very well. It would rely on the contents that you place in it to keep the shape and stop the bag from folding in on itself. There are also a couple of areas on the bag where the stitching isn’t finished particularly well. On the plus side, although the clips on the detachable strap are very light-weight, they actually seem quite strong. Overall for a fiver, I can’t really complain. To use my mum’s phrase, “it’ll do a turn.”
The chiffon summer blouse is light-weight, soft and comfortable to wear. I love the horse pattern design and the neck tie is a nice finish. It would be lovely to wear on holiday or on a warmer day. It fitted well, though the sleeves rode up on me a little on me as I moved– it has to be said that I am 5’9 and long-limbed! The material is nice and soft and overall I was impressed with this item. The only downside was that unfortunately the stitching isn’t great on one area of the blouse. The threads have gathered inside the collar at the back of the neck. Given the material is sheer, it is very unforgiving of poor stitching. It isn’t hugely noticeable and won’t be an issue when I wear my hair down. It’s just unfortunate as apart from that I wouldn’t have anything negative to say about this blouse.
Overall I do think you get what you pay for and you have to keep in mind that you are only paying a fiver for each item. I think this is going to be one of those websites that could potentially be a bit hit and miss. Some items will undoubtedly be a bargain find, whereas others may leave you feeling a little disappointing. What do you think? Would this be a website that you would order from?
